"Anybody that can shoot a little kid and not have a problem with it, there is something wrong with them."

-- PFC Nick Boggs, with the 101st Airborne, who opened fire on a young boy who ran into the street and grabbed an RPG launcher dropped by a fallen Iraqi soldier.

PFC Nick Boggs, now Specialist Nick Boggs is my nephew and let me tell you something,  Nicholas is one of the brightest, highest achieving young men I have ever known.  My brother raised him on an island in AK, where he excelled in basketball and wrestling.  He is well liked and respected.  This young man joined the Army and didn't have a clue he would be shipped to the middle of Iraq and forced to make a decision in a moment's time that will affect his life forever.  There have been many children killed in many wars over the years.  I have read more trash about how Nicholas is a war criminal, etc..  Well it's not true.  The real criminal in the war, as we all know is Hussein.  And we shouldn't leave that country until that man has been found.  Hats off to ALL our young men and hats off to you Nicholas.  See you in Feb or March of '04.  Love, Auntie Diane

I pray that Nick Boggs could find more mercy than he has given to this poor boy in Iraq. I pray ir order that Nick Boggs repents of this crime of murder - May Nick Boggs gets to know Jesus Christ personally, as his Lord and Saviour, and receives new life, and so, start to work in favour of life, not death any more. May the Lord protect Nick Boggs of having his country invaded by foreigners, and hope that he never experiences the killing of one of his children. Hope that Nick Boggs experience some reflexion on what he had done - Has Nick Boggs asked for forgiveness to the boy´s parents ?

What the hell are you talking about? This man made a decision in a split second that most of you have never had to make. I've made that decision a dozen times or so every yr I was in the service. I wasn't there neither were you, I believe it says in the Bible something about "Judge not lest ye be judged". Any "innocent" child dying is a terrible thing, but his first duty lies to the protection of his brothers in the field. An RPG is  cheap crude and lethal , and in the hands of a 10 yr old can be fired with some degree of accuracy. He might have saved 10 men that day, so I'm with you Boggs come home safe! HooAH!

I think when Jesus said "Love Your Enemies" he also meant don't kill them.

“I think they [Iraqi people] thought we wouldn’t shoot kids. But we showed them we don’t care. We are going to do what we have to do to stay alive and keep ourselves safe. I did what I had to do. I don’t have a big problem with it but anyone who shoots a little kid has to feel something.”

— Private Nick Boggs
He seems like a war criminal to me.

I went to High School with Nick Boggs he is one of my friends.  I say until you people get off of your cowardly asses and put your life on the line for your country then you have no right to talk and your oppinion means nothing to anyone who has family or close friends over there giving thier lives every day.  So shut the f_ck up!

We make war that we may live in peace.

So we go to war with a country because they threatened our freedom somehow?  With non-existant weapons of mass destruction.  Weapons we knew he had because we gave them to him - right?

We were (are) there for the wrong reasons.

And a child dies defending his country from invaders.  I think that American children would die the same fates if we were invaded.  But it seems to me that one child shot another.

Congratulations to Nick on his first "kill" - shame on our President for sending our children off to die.

my name is ivy. ive known nick for a long time. i know that he is a good person and i count him as one of my best friends. i was working the night shift on thanksgiving and he and the rest of his buddies brought me thanksgiving dinner that night and i fell in love with them all right then and there. im a mother with 2 young sons but i also come from a long military family my grandfather fought i korea and my uncle died in vietnam. my brother was hit with an RPG and recieved a puple heart and a commendation with valor. fortunatly he lives to talk about it. i know that nick just did what he had to do to save himself and the other men he was with. i love all these guys with all my heart and i know that if i where over there with him id hope he'd do the same thing to protect me. these guys didnt ask for this kind of shit and its the stuff that will haunt them the rest of thier lives. i knew all of them before they left and i can say that they are greatly changed. i think sometimes that civilians sometimes forget that our sons daughters husbands wives fathers mothers and brothers sisters and most of all loved ones have volenteered for this horrible sacrifice and even though some of us my be against this war or the start or cause of it (as am i)WE MUST REMEMBER THAT THESE PEOPLE ARE THERE TO PROTECT US no matter the cost. i love all these men and wish i could take these pains away from them. ivy

It is apparent that this young man, Nick, lets say was caught in a situation like many other soliders in foreign lands. This may be hard for all the pompus, self-righteous hipacrits on capitol hill and in there little castle chair at home. The fact of the matter is that this situation has happened to American troops in every conflict we have been in. Children either become bombs or become transport vessels for many types of weapons. It has happened in the past and will continue to happen unless we get off our self-righteous politically driven ignorant as#$@! and stop it now, to prevent any other children from being hurt or used as pawns by psychotic religious fanatics. What happened in Iraq? You will never hear the truth being printed by the media or anyone. The fact is that the weapon that was picked up by this child was going to be used on our young men. I understand that most comments are polictically driven, but if you weren't so blind and such a coward you would be over there fighting for our freedom instead of these young men.  I have been around a long time, and around a lot of soldiers, that would all do anything in there power to prevent a child from being hurt.
