Speaking of Asses...

There was a bombing January 26th in Jerusalem in which the Palestinians strapped explosives to a donkey and detonated it. No one was killed, except the donkey.

The Washington Post reports that this prompted a letter from PETA President Ingrid Newkirk to Yassar Arafat asking the Palestinians to refrain from using animals in their suicide bombings.

There was no mention of using human beings, apparently that's okay with the folks at PETA.  When asked by the Post if PETA would also ask the Palestinians to "stop blowing up people", Newkirk replied "It's not my business to inject myself into human wars."

Israeli Embassy spokesman Mark Regev had no comment on the PETA letter, but did offer this response to the donkey-bombing, "I find it ironic that the Palestinian leaders choose to send donkeys to kill civilians. Surely, the Palestinian people deserve better than the current bunch of asses who run their affairs."

(Personally, I think the same can be said of the people of PETA.)
