You and a group of your closest friends take off from San Juan, Puerto Rico, headed for down island on a flight expected to last 1.5 hours. The commuter plane is propeller powered and seats twelve. The pilot keeps you informed during the trip. A tropical storm makes an unforeseen shift in direction and may interfere with your flight path. The pilot decides to adjust for the storm. One hour into the flight a localized storm develops. Lightening hits your plane and partially disables it. The pilot attempts an emergency landing.
You wake up to the following scenario: You and your friends, physically okay, are on the beach of a small island. The plane, partially submerged offshore, is incapacitated both mechanically and electrically. The pilot and co-pilot are dead. Your small island is about a mile from a larger landmass across the water. In contrast to your present surroundings, it contains vegetation.
Formulate a plan to deal with your situation. State your premises, rationale, and conclusions.
