ANSWER

Julius Caesar was born during the month we know as July. After his death, it was named "July" in his honor. In a similar manner August was named after Caesar Augustus. Prior to that, the months were known as Quintilis and Sextilis, respectively, as they were originally the fifth and six months of the year. That was before Julius Ceasar rearranged the calendar, moving New Year's Day from March to January. (Strangely, nobody ever bothered to rename September, October, November, and December.)
