ANSWER

Sir Isaac Newton

Legend has it that Newton grew tired of constantly opening the door for his cat, who seemed to always want out when she was in, and want in was she was out. Many cat owners can relate. His solution was to cut a small hole in the bottom of the door and hang a flap there, so his beloved feline could come and go as she pleased. Whether this story is true or not is questionable, as Newton himself never wrote anything about it, as he did his other, more well known, accomplishments - the invention of the reflecting telescope, his definitive work on the principles of motion, the discovery of calculus and his lifelong intellectual warfare with Gottfried Leibniz over the same, and his discovery that gravity tends to cause apples to fall from trees.
