Yeah, That Will Fix It...

One of the most dangerous highways in New Mexico is Highway 666, according to Reuters.  Locals frequently refer to it as the "Highway to Hell", the "Devil's Highway", and the like.  There were 21 fatalities and 144 injuries on this highway in the last to years, despite the fact that it travels through a very sparsely populated part of the state.

Have no fear, the Bill Richardson, the governor of New Mexico, has a bold plan to make Highway 666 a safer road -- he's asking federal authorities to change its name.

Hmm. Although I must admit, the numbering of it as "666" is believed to be the reasoning for so many casualties, I myself find the entire situation fascinating. I have read about it and numerous "phantoms" seen there, as well as cars that chase other cars and them simply dissappear. Is this the place itself? The number? Or was it given that number because of the area's inherent evil quality?
