Devout people of all religions bring their symbols with them all the time. Please don't use one brave soldier's expression of faith to characterize our entire armed forces as overzealous bigots. That's rather mean-spirited of you.

Now, now. I certainly would NOT characterize our armed forces as overzealous bigots. Far from it. I think our soldiers represent the most professional military organization this planet has ever known.
Symbols of faith have their place. As do guns. But the juxtaposition of a symbol of faith on the end of a gun I find ironic. Particularly when we have spent so much time and effort (and rightly so) trying to convince the world that this war is not about religion. But that's just me...

That's a re-touched picture to begin with. the barrels on the m1a1 and the bradley fighting veichles are sand tan painted and the port holes of the barrel are not that of a tank or large bore gun but some sort of shoulder fired weapon.

The photo is from the AFP (the French Press Agency). While I'm the first to distrust the French, the angle of the photo suggests that it may be "posed", rather than retouched. Of course, I'm not really familiar with journalistic standards in France, so who knows...

professional? then why did you blow a british plane out the sky? cause constant casualities to allied troops and beg for the british black watch, a troop of 800 men to do the job of thousands when the yanks assaulted Falluja? ...or the Argentines. Britain does indeed have a fine military, born of the necessity of defending an island nation. (Events in North Africa notwithstanding). Actually, when you get down to it, the most effective military, on a per capita basis anyway, has to be the Israelis.
