They are very serious about their tea in Georgia.
State lawmakers, led by Rep. John Noel of Atlanta, are proposing legislation which would require all restaurants in the state to serve sweet tea, according to a recent CBS report. The restaurants would still be able to serve unsweetened tea if they so desired, but the sweetened tea would be required by law. Failure to do so would be a misdemeanor punishable by up to 12 months in jail.
(Rumor has it that their next item of business is legislation requiring at least one Waffle House at every Interstate exit.)
