Reuters reports that Shawn Gementera was convicted of mail theft, and was sentenced by US District Judge Vaughn Walker to 100 hours of community service - standing in front of the post office wearing big sign saying "I have stolen mail. This is my punishment."

The AP reports that Curtis Robin Sr. was convicted of charges of injury to a child, for forcing his 11-year-old stepson to sleep in a doghouse, among other things. As part of his plea-bargained sentence, he has to pay a $1000 fine and spend eight years on probation... and either spend 30 days in jail, or sleep in a doghouse for 30 nights - his choice.
