Among them, Chicago residents Ezekiel Garnett and his sister Karen, who threw out a Illinois Lotto ticket without checking the numbers. Turns out it was the winning ticket - good for $10.5 million. Had it not been for the nine day garbage workers strike going on at the time their winning ticket likely would have been lost forever.
