The University of Punjab was established in 1936 and offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and research programs under its umbrella. There are currently five faculties at the university: Arts & Humanities; Social Sciences; Science & Engineering; Education, Health & Community Development; and Business & Modern Law. The English name for this institution is the University of the Panjab. This educational institute was founded in 1936 by Sir Sikandar Hayat Khan, philanthropist and social worker from Rawalpindi, who was a member of the Legislative Council under the British Government before independence in 1947.

The University of Punjab is a public university located in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It was established under the Punjab University Ordinance, 1951, and started functioning on 1 August 1952. The University of Punjab is recognized by the Government of Pakistan as an institute of national importance, offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in a variety of disciplines including sciences and humanities.
