Generally the shape of the jaw is more pointed in crocs than gators, but this is not always the case for all species.

A good difference is that in gators, the upper jaw is larger than the lower, and thus the upper jaw teeth overlap the lower jaw, making those teeth hidden when the mouth is closed. In crocs the two jaws are usually of very similar size, and the teeth 'mesh' together. Especially visible on crocs is the 4th tooth on the bottom jaw, which you wont see on gators.

Crocs have glands that can excrete excess salt from their system, gators dont.

Also if you are looking at leather, crocs have sensory 'pits' all over their bodies, while gators only have them on their jaws, so if the leather has dot/s or pit/s on each scale, its croc leather.

Crocodiles can be salt water or fresh. they have a meaner temper. and are native to the southern hemisphere i believe.

While alligators are calmer and generally only attack certain animals. They also only live in fresh water. and i believe they are generally nativ to the northern hemisphere

An alligator will not go for you, UNLESS it thinks your in it's teriotory! You better watch out! A crocadile will go after as soon as he/her see's you! Crocadiles are most likely to be found in Austreila, Africa, and Europe. Sometime's you may find an Crocadile around here but that means that there  wandering around!!! Then we have alligators, they live almost everywhere in the U.S.A for example: North Carolina, FLORIDA, hawaii, and much much more.they are mostly found in a river or swamps Even pools ! Then crocadiles are found in ocean ( known as the roaming salt water crocs) and rivers swamps and lakes.

The southern tip of Florida is the only place in the world where alligators and crocodiles live in the wild together. Just learned that on the discovery channel last night and thought I would share it:)

ugh people. Florida is not even the main area for alligators. the most popullated area for alligators is in LOUISIANA! I once saw one in my backyard. also alligators are more calm. and crocs have a shorter temper.
